nyc gift fair and areaware's design to go

i went to the new york gift show yesterday to show my support for fellow designer friends like jan habraken, joey roth, lucy sisman, sherwood forlee, toru nagai, kip kotzen, noel wiggins or areaware and others. we don't show there as there is bad blood between nooka and george little management, but i was impressed with the energy at this year's accent on design section. kip launched his own showroom, neo-utility, which has a wonderfully curated collection of fine objects from around the world, featuring many of idea japan's products. this is the closest thing NYC has to a design week for product design, so we take what we can get here.

equally impressive was the after party by areaware at the NYC port authority! chad phillips of kidrobot dj'd the party in the iconic soon to be demolished space [which was donated by the city]. it was an international who's who of product design. i chatted with jan habraken, marcus greinke of charlesandmarie.com [top left photo], the host noel [picture with me in the photo upper right], harm magis of jansen+co of the nederlands [photo lower right]. had a nooka sighting on a designer from dror, drank free wine. again, great energy. read more about the shop on the coolhunting site here.

nooka is available at fine shops and online here.

in addition: noo music playing in the nooka lab this week: see mystery lights by YACHT, we hear you by luke vibert, the quicksand ep by la roux AND anything by little boots!

also, don't forget to vote for nooka at pulchra. the voting process may seem a bit tedious, but it is actually really simple. simply drag nooka to the number 1 spot, if that's your choice of course and choose the other 9 objects until you have completed your list. In order for your vote to be valid, you will need to complete the details form. remember you can only vote ONCE PER DAY, so make sure to log on the next day and do it all over again. link is here!
