i am very late in posting this, but late is better than never! i hired tina as a graphic design intern fresh after her graduation from a german design school YEARS ago – and here she still is in NYC – a design STAR! i am so proud!


tina roth eisenberg, known for her design blog, swiss miss, was featured in the current food issue of print magazine for her father's fondue recipe and if i must say so myself, it is to die for [as long as i remember to take my lactaid tablet!]. pictured above, tina is wearing a nooka zenh gg. inlcuded below is tina's recipe!

Hans-Ruedi's (swiss miss's dad's) fondue recipe

ingredients (serves 4)
* 0.7 lbs gruyere cheese
* 0.5 lbs appenzeller cheese
* 0.5 lbs vacherin cheese (all cheeses should be from switzerland)
* 1 garlic clove, peeled
* 11/2 cups dry white wine
* 1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
* 2 shot glass of kirsch
* 4 tsp. cornstarch
* a few gratings of freshly ground pepper nutmeg
* for dipping: crusty french bread, cut into bite-sized cubes (leave a piece of crust on each cube), soft-boiled new potatoes, or broccoli florets.

directions

1. rub the inside of fondue pan with the garlic. add the wine and lemon juice and bring to a bare simmer over medium heat.
2. add shredded cheeses, stir, and melt slowly. the fondue can bubble gently, but do not boil. mix kirsch with cornstarch and add to fondue while stirring. season with nutmeg and pepper.
3. transfer to table and keep warm over a fondue burner. serve immediately with dipping ingredients.

Fashion Week: Monarchy

fashion brand, monarchy, by designer eric kim, puts on quite a show. monarchy is a leading men's and women's fashion brand that was established 2004. monarchy is a favorite among the hollywood elite and nooka was privileged to be featured in their fall 2009 fashion show this past friday on the male models walking the runway at the tents in bryant park. learn more about this great brand here. the boys at mao pr put together a great show – thanks for the great seats! i really enjoyed the music while waiting for the show to start, need to get the soundtrack. moreover, the audience was a who's who of cable television fashion. i was happy to run into old friend J alexander who i've known since we were both teenage club kids in a very different and gritty NYC [and so happy to see his continued success with america's next top model!]

H5 in Malaysia

again, apologies for posting this a few weeks after-the-fact, but i've been trying to pace my blog posts, and now i have quite a backlog!

H5, a new concept store in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia inspired by the street, pop art, urbanism, music and colors of life, features the latest in wrist fashion from new york to tokyo and the latest trends in sneakers from shanghai to london. Numerous brands are featured in the store, but nookas brightly colored watches encompassing the wall seem to attract a lot of attention according to nikicheong. it's very cool to have so many devoted fans in malaysia, and i see them tweeting on twitter all the time – thanks guys!　actually, i could use some good fotos to post here: my malaysian peeps, send em over!
