nooka and the guys behind gommi arcade have done it again! zak hoke and malcolm phipps previously worked with nooka to bring you the uber rare garbege watch released in april 2007. this time around, they will release the gommi arcade x nooka future shock timepiece. their previous release was extremely successful, so it was no doubt that nooka would work with them again.

this limited edition timepiece is a twist on the time manipulation device worn by gommi in the future shock comic/ manga written by zak hoke for gommi arcade inc. this one of a kind watch features the zub zot face in blue with original 'gommi marvel' iconic artwork.

nooka gallery event

in honor of the release of nooka's very own mini nookanookas, nooka hosted a celebration to kick off their one-day gallery show. the nookanooka is an urban vinyl collector’s toy, but more importantly acts as a representative for the nooka brand. 16 nookanooka's were given to various world-renowned artists to apply their own ingenious creativity.

over 400 people graced the red bull space with their presence, sipping on red bull and vodka as they chatted and took an exclusive peek at the art. In attendance was Chad from KidRobot, Dustin Canalin from Undrcrwn, Carmindy from "What Not to Wear", Mark Graham from ilovedust, and DDCLab to name a few.

special thank you to all of the artists who graciously participated in the event, as well as mark graham and the whole ilovedust team and "release the hounds" for providing nooka with two amazing animated videos that were shown during the event! also, special thanks to Adrian Michna from Ghostly for dj-ing!

nooka has joined forces with legendary artists/toy designers to commemorate the release of the new mini nooka. that's right, jeremy madl (mastermind behind the cult following mad toy design inc), ilovedust (renowned design boutique), shin tanaka (creator of paper figures inspired by the popular urban vinyl phenomenon) and Matthew Waldman custom designed their own mini nookanooka. each of you will be able to own these custom designs by mid october, so pre-order yours here!

spongebamo! its the september release of the third collaborative piece celebrating spongebobs 10th year anniversary marking his influence on pop culture. spongebob has made his journey from fry cook in bikini bottom to global icon. nooka continues to celebrate this momentous occasion with the release of the colorful camouflage watch based on the zot al. the watch combines the style of nooka with the color palett of the spongebob cartoon.

we met the guys behind supreme being at a trade show in barcelona 4 years ago! we've kept in touch ever since, and i am excited to announce a collab! i have watched them grow from t-shirts to a full-fledged fashion company – congratulations guys!

from the official press release: Supremebeing first began as a small, hand-printed graphic t-shirt venture in the UK, and today has grown to a full street-wear clothing line for both men and women. The fully-formed line features everything from clothing to trainers and accessories, along with their staple t-shirt collection. Many of the t-shirts are still printed by hand, keeping the personal touch of the line alive and well. Their ethos, ‘Created First Amongst Equals,’ encourages consumers to not simply wear their clothing for the brand name, but because they love the clothes. This attitude is expressed in the brand’s own designs and is also apparent in the collaborative design with Nooka.

nooka X spongebob squarepants

i usually wait to blog about stuff until it's actually in stores or at least a few weeks prior to that date, but as this news is already out on the PR wires, i feel it should also be on my blog.

it's no secret that personally, i'm a huge fan of spongebob [i like square butts and just can't lie...what a great tv commercial!], but was a bit reticent at first to agreeing to a collab when we were approached by nickelodeon. my fears about the collaboration were quickly dispelled when i was shown the great stuff BAPE produced last year and were told that we would have liberty to manipulate and create our own design vocabulary for the project.

i must say, the creative teams at nickelodeon are amazing! they are enthusiastic about their properties and about working with us.

2009 is the 10th anniversary of spongebob squarepants and we are more than stoked to be a part of the year long celebration. our pieces will be available in-stores this summer but look for pre-order status in june on our online store. i'll blog about it again when closer to the drop-date. in the meantime, read this cool article in, of all places, marketwatch.com! and also on hypebeast!

nooka collab: bleed

i became friends with the guys at bleed the very first design tide i took part of in tokyo when it was in a funky building on meiji-dori [tokyo] and have talked of doing a collaboration since then – well, it's about to drop in an extremely limited edition. gorgeous gold silk screened design on leather and our signature zen-h face.

bleed is an interdisciplinary studio in norway and i hear their space is very cool and hope to visit them there some day. check out their site here.
