nooka.com is down again! we haven't gotten good enough information from u2-web.com [who host the site] to figure out what's really going on, so if anyone has friends over there, please have them get on the case and respond to my programmer's emails!

art director yumi asai has created a new design for the nooka website, which is as ever, an ongoing project. the new build will address and hopefully resolve some ongoing issues of usability, and also integrate the numerous international sites under one standardized design [international sites to launch as soon as we get all the feedback and translations from our distributors. this will also include an international 'where to buy' section which is way too long overdue].

so enjoy the soft launch now with the new look book photography from the supervisory. any and all constructive comments are welcome.

leandro manuel emede is a director, photographer, sound & video editor, and most recently, a designer! he has developed sugarkane glasses (that are limited edition) that are delightfully asymmetric frames. they come in fun colors; the collection can be seen here. sugarkane glasses do not follow the lead of other optical frames so there is a some conceptual synergy between leo and myself – in actuality, he's purchased 2 nookas before i recently contacted him about his frames. always up for a trade, i got a pair of his frames for a nooka zirc which leo looks so good sporting in the fotos he sent RIGHT after he received it. fotos of me wearing sugarkane to come!

openers japan: cocktail culture

i was 2 months late in finishing this article, mainly because i was too lazy to translate the interviews from english to japanese [yu yamada of my tokyo office was kind enough to do that part for me!] – so here it is, episode 8 of my openers column – the cocktail!
